Comfort & Joy

Well I thought I was done making Christmas cards this year.
But I forgot about our neighbors, so I made a couple
 this past weekend.

I loved the Comfort & Joy stamp out of the Word Play set.
I hadn't even used it this season, so I took the opportunity
to make some cute cards with it.

It's Friday!!!

I am so excited for the weekend! We are having a family Christmas party on Sunday.  It is so hard to get our entire family together, as we keep growing larger and larger.  So we thought we would have a get together before Christmas. I am excited to see everyone.

I am a little late posting this card.  I used the sketch from last weeks Mojo Monday.  They always have great sketches. And I have to say that this stamp is my favorite this year.  It is from the Pines and Poinsettias set and I have used it many times this season.  Even better that I got it free from Stampin Up when my sister joined as a demonstrator!!

I used the faux porcelain technique from Split Coast Stampers on my Christmas stamp.

Scrap it with a Song Challenge

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!
The new challenge at Scrap it with a Song is to be inspired by your favorite Christmas song. I have so many favorites but when I was looking at these Christmas pictures the song "A Few of my Favorite Things" just popped in my head. One of the things I love most about Christmas is my ornaments and decorations!

The Elvis ornament has hung on our tree since I was a little girl! The Elf was given to me by my Grandma, Mom says I always played with it when I was at her house, so she let me take it home. For some reason son & fiancé think it's creepy and even made a video about him. lol The other ornaments are all newer. The penguins was bought for me by a co-worker in 2008, for my & Mikes first Christmas. The Linus is a Hallmark that recites the BEST part of a Charlie Brown Christmas. The Road Runner is another Hallmark Keepsake, that reminded me of Dad. The best part of Saturday morning was watching Bugs Bunny with my Dad. That is the best part of decorating, you aren't just hanging decorations you are hanging up memories!

Well, enough about my decorations.  lol I used My Digital Studio to create my page. You have until the end of the month to enter your creation at Scrap it with a Song. We love to see your creations.

Have a great day ~ Shelley

11 days til Christmas!!

Well, I hope you all have most of your shopping done.  I actually have more done now than I usually do.  I only have two more gifts to buy!! And I know what I am getting them! Yippee!

I took some time this weekend to make a few Christmas cards to give to my fiancĂ©'s Mom.

I cased this card from someone else's blog, sorry I can't find the link now. I really like how it turned out. And I love that I used French Foliage to make a Christmas card.

Ornaments

My baby boy (20 now) is putting up his own Christmas tree this year.  That is such a big moment, probably more so for me than him. lol He asked me if I was going to make him some ornaments, of course I was already doing just that.

These are a few I made & a couple that I added a little more too.  I can't wait to see his tree! It's is so exciting!

White Christmas - Scrap it with a Song

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....
Scrap it with a Song's challenge this week is White Christmas!

You can use the title or any lyrics from the song for your inspiration for your page. I used the lyrics "Children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow"

I made my page with My Digital Studio from Stampin Up. I got the cute font FREE from 1001 Free Fonts. The pictures are of my wonderful nephews Anthony & Braydon. The first one was taken in 2004 and the other one is just from last year. I came across some older photos and can't believe how much they have grown up! I miss them being little.

Remember you have until the end of the month to enter SIWAS challenge! We love to see your creations!

December already??

I just don't know where November went. It still amazes me how fast time flies. There never seems to be enough hours in the day. But I did get a few things accomplished last night. That pesky day job seems to get in the way, especially this time of year. My future sister-in-law's baby shower is this weekend and she asked me to make a couple sets of Christmas cards to giveaway as prizes. I am more than happy to oblige. I finished them up last night.

Here is one of them. I used Rich Razzleberry and embossed the Delightful Decorations with pewter embossing powder.
I'm excited for tomorrow evening to get here, I think I will get a few more projects crossed off my list!

Have a great day, Shelley

More Christmas Decorations

I have another Christmas decoration to share with you today.

I used a Jingle all the Way Decor Element on a glass block I bought at Lowes.  Inside is some miniature blue bulbs and a couple strings of beads.  I decorated with some ribbon & a bow I bought on sale after Christmas last year. I would still like to buy a small set of lights to put inside too.

New Baby!

I get to go to a baby shower this weekend! I love shopping and making things for baby showers. It is so fun to look at all the cute little baby clothes. My future sister-in-law is due in February, this will be their 5th baby boy! I don't get to make things for little girls very often. I am hoping for a little girl for my nephew & his fiancé due in May. (fingers crossed - lol)

Christmas Decorations

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I have had a mini vacation since my company was closed Thursday and Friday! We had a great time with family and friends.
I even had some time to decorate my house for Christmas and finished another Christmas tree decoration for my mantle.

I cut 1x3 pieces of Very Vanilla and Beau Chic DSP and layered them on a foam tree.   I would like to make more to start a collection. Here is the one I made last month.

I used My Digital Studio once again. Still loving it!! I used the sketch from Sketches In Thyme #59

You can use the Lyrics, Title or song for inspiration.  Have your layouts or projects linked up by the end of the month to be entered into the drawing for this month's prize.

Grateful for....

I really have so much to be grateful for. I have a wonderful family, a great job that I really enjoy, a new home.  The list could go on and on. I often take a lot of these things for granted. Today I will highlight two little boys that I am so happy to have in my life. My great nephews Derrick & Landon. Their mom is my only niece (I also have only one great niece), so she was more like my little sister. I love spending time with them. And lately I am really missing them. I am only an hour and a half away from them now, but I miss getting to swing by Derrick's football game.

These pictures are from a day we spent together this past summer. They have a little brother, Levi, that decided not to tag along with us. He is definitely a momma's boy.  I lived on the same street as Dairy Queen and the park was only a couple blocks away. So we walked up and had an ice cream, then went to the park to burn up the energy.  And they did burn, I had to carry Landon back home! That was a chore, I was wore out!

I used the sketch for Sketchy Thursdays Decemeber GDT challenge, you can play along until Nov. 19!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. It goes by so fast! I thought I would work on some Christmas cards today. I talked to my cousin the other night and he has already started getting his ready!  I know this month will be gone before I know it, so I really need to get some more done before the rush of the season begins.

I used the sketch at Freshly Made  to make this card. I have been wanting to make some Christmas cards using non traditional colors, especially my favorite color Razzleberry!

Stampin Up supplies
Razzleberry cardstock & ink, Melon Mambo cardstock & ink, Whisper White cardstock, Versamark, Pewter embossing powder, Snow Swirled stamp set

Happy Veteran's Day!

Happy Veteran's Day!

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
- John F. Kennedy

We have so many brave men and women to thank today, and should remember them everyday in our prayers. Let us never forgot the sacrifices made. I thank each and every one of you so much!!

I made the card this evening and it is just too dark in my house to take a good picture. I'm still not use to the time change.   I used the marble effect with Old Olive and Early Espresso.
Have a great day - Shelley

Its the most wonderful time of the year....

I'm not trying to rush the season. I just want to enjoy every minute of it. It seems to fly right past me. I'm even watching a Hallmark Christmas movie, Mrs. Miracle. I've already seen Call Me Mrs. Miracle. Such a great movie!  I have been working on some card designs for my Stamp a Stack Class. And I think this one is my favorite!! And it was so easy and fast to make!

Lovely as a Tree is such a wonderful set!! And makes gorgeous Christmas cards.

THANKFUL

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend.  And enjoyed the extra hour for those of us on daylight savings time. We had a good weekend. Such gorgeous weather!

I am trying to finish up my Thanksgiving decorations. I am almost there. I just want to make a couple more pumpkins. Of course, Christmas is right around the corner.

I made the fabric pumpkin a few days ago. Really loved how this one turned out. So much better than the first ones I made. I need to make two more.
I made the thankful sign out of chipboard and covered with my favorite Spice Cake DSP. The pumpkins on the end are also made out of Spice Cake DSP and Pool Party card stock.

More Craft Fair Projects

Well tomorrow is the Fall Festival and I am hoping that I do well! I am excited since I don't really know many people in the area.

I made this Ghirardelli box from the directions at Split Coast Stampers. It was really easy and makes a great little gift.

Scrap It With a Song - Can't Change Me

Scrap It With a Song has a new challenge for you.
This week our song is Can't Change Me by Chris Cornell.

For my page this week I used My Digital Studio. I have been having a lot of fun playing with this.  On Nov. 4-7 mydigitalstudio.net will have some great freebies to celebrate Digital Scrapbooking Day.

I wasn't sure want to do with this song. Then I saw these pictures of my kitty Pearl and the first sentence of song stuck. She is a very spoiled kitty. My son's girlfriend rescued her when she was just 4 wks old. The poor thing had fleas so bad she was almost dead. She was so tiny! She is very healthy now. Here I was taking pictures of her while she slept and obviously I disturbed her. If looks could kill.

Stop by and see the awesome creations from the Rock Chics
at SIWAS and join our challenge!

Back to work!

Today I am officially back to work. I really enjoyed my time off and wish it could have been longer, but I have to earn a living.  I am just so excited it took less than a week to find a job. I was a little nervous that it would take a lot longer. For that I am so grateful!

I spent my last "vacation" day making some items to sale at a Fall Festival this Saturday. This is a tin of Hershey nuggets.

It is really hard not to eat all the chocolate
when I was making these. lol

Supplies: Spice Cake DSP, Pool Party card stock, Day of Gratitude stamp set.

Peace on Earth

November already, where does the year go??? Time to get ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Yay! I love this time of year. And I have good news, I start my new job on Wednesday. After we moved to Charleston, I decided I would take a month long vacation. Well the month was up, so it was time to look for a job. I was very fortunate that it only took one week and only one interview.

I have a Christmas card to share today. I saw similar cards done like this. I love how the sentiment goes with the image.  The newspaper I worked at has a list of service men & women to send cards to during the holidays. I want to make more of these to send out.

Supplies: River Rock, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla Cardstock
Stripes embossing folder, Cherry Cobbler embossing powder. Stamp set - Courage.

Christmas Stocking

Hi all!! We had a great time with my Mom yesterday. Took her to the mall and a little site seeing around the area. I really think she is enjoying her "vacation". Today I think we will make a few Christmas cards!

I used the stocking die to make this card.

I see more of these in my future. I've seen such great treat holders with these stockings! With my LARGE family I will be making a lot of them.

Spice Cake Candles

It's Friday!! I am so excited about this weekend. I won a free weekend at North Bend State Park in WV at the company I worked for last Christmas. Thanks Exponent Telegram!! We are finally getting around to using it. I thought I would use it this summer but didn't read the fine print that you couldn't use it between Memorial Day & Labor Day. But I'm sure it will be gorgeous there this weekend with the leaves changing. Plus my son & his girlfriend will be meeting us there!!

I have a fast & easy project to share today.

These candles are going on my mantle with the pumpkins I made earlier this week. I used the Spice Cake fabric & designer series paper and the coordinating buttons. All these are in the holiday mini. I think Spice Cake is my favorite paper yet! Such pretty colors & designs.

Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!!

Scrap it With a Song

This week Scrap it with a Song is using an awesome rock poster for inspiration! And what better rock band than the one and only Grateful Dead!!!

There is so much inspiration you can take from this poster....

Here is what I created...

This is my handsome nephew, Tyler. I usually never get a good picture of him. He is usually making some terrible gesture or face at me.
I used the orange, green & purple from the poster.  I tried to find similar letters to use.

Christmas is in the air!!

Happy Wednesday!! I have been in the Christmas spirit lately. I love CHRISTMAS!! I want to get a jump start on some decorations for our new house. The sad thing is I always buy things then never get around to use them. I bought two foam trees last year and was determined to create something with them this week.  My friend Kim says there is only 68 days to go!! Can you believe it!!

Well I did get one tree created...

These are using the lollies, except I didn't create the lolly with them. I used scored my paper ever 1/4" with the Simply Scored tool. Then just pinned them into the foam. I used the Cherry Cobble Quilted Satin ribbon for tinsel. The ornaments are from the stocking accents die for the Big Shot and 1/2" circle punch.

I stamped some of the ornaments with the Pines & Poinsettias stamp set.
It is such a pretty set!

Have a great day! Shelley

My Digital Studio

Well, I have been wanting it for a long time, so I finally broke down and bought My Digital Studio! I am so glad I did. It is so much fun to play with, and I can see me getting more pages done than I have in the past! Especially gifts I would love to give family members.

This was my first attempt.

This my son, Larz and his good friend, Alex. They came down to Charleston to visit us last weekend. Of course they wanted to go to the mall. Like any good mom, I brought my camera along. I think I might have been embarrassing them. lol

They were good sports at first....

but then...
I don't care. I was having a good time. lol The older fellow in the back thought it was pretty funny!

Have a great day~ Shelley

Pumpkins, Pumpkins!

Hi! Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Ours was nice, we went to the walk Saturday for Infant & Pregnancy Loss Awareness. Today we went to see a good friend of Mike's and stopped in Pt. Pleasant, WV. Mike & his family lived there quite a while and he was showing me around. There is some great Revolutionary history there and of course the Mothman legend.

Friday was a great day! I received my Stampin Up order. I was so excited to start playing. First I made these fabric pumpkins out of the Spice Cake fabric available in the Holiday mini.

I found the instructions on how to make them here.  Martha Stewart also has a different set of instructions here.  I just love them. And the fabric is great! Might make some more soon!

Pretty Doilies

I can't believe it's Thursday! The days seem to pass so quick!  I am so excited, I have a new laptop. Well, not completely brand new, but new to me. And the mouse doesn't jump when I type. On my other laptop I would be typing away and have to stop because the cursor had jumped somewhere else on the page, and my words where all screwy!  But anyway....

I took the idea & layout for this card out of Paper Crafts magazine. I used the Delicate Doilies  & Kindness Matters. Both are so great, and Kindness Matters is only $8.95 for the clear set! I finally used the Cherry Cobbler embossing powder, but I don't think you can really see that in this picture.

If you would like to order either is these sets, just click here!
